The Dental Centre

The Dental Centre is a family dental practice that has been providing patient-centered dental care in Broken Hill since 1984. Operating from modern, state-of-the-art premises with a highly trained team of multi-skilled staff, our practice is able to offer a wide range of preventive, cosmetic and restorative procedures, providing the highest possible quality and care.

Principal Dentist:

Dr Thomas Cocks

Tom studied a bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Adelaide and was subsequently accepted into the post graduate Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Sydney. Whilst completing his post graduate training, Tom worked as an oral health therapist, specialising in the treatment of paediatric patients in two of Sydney’s top practices, one on Macquarie Street in the CBD and the other in Hunter’s Hill. During his studies, Tom’s dedication to excellence was recognised through numerous awards, including the Pierre Fauchard Academy award for Academic Excellence and Leadership, and the Peter Kalwaski Prize for Proficiency in both Endodontics and Prosthodontics. Upon graduation, Tom also received the honour of being awarded the “Australian Dental Graduate of the Year”

As a dentist, Tom’s easy-going nature, patience, and dedication to his work provides his patients with a painless and often enjoyable dental experience. He has made a name for himself amongst our most nervous patients and apprehensive children with his kind and gentle approach to dental care, relieving dental anxiety for all patients.

Associate Dentist:

Dr Gregory C Cocks

Greg is a highly trained Dental Surgeon with postgraduate accreditation in Orthodontics, Periodontics, and Dental Implantology. He is interested in all areas of contemporary dental practice and is a regular attender of post graduate training courses. He is a tutor at the University of Adelaide Dental School, passing on his vast dental knowledge onto the next generation of dentists.

Greg is actively involved in community and sporting associations and is a fellow of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (course 13).

Greg is the chairman of Senyum, a dental humanitarian aid program to provide dental care for disadvantaged children in rural/remote areas of Australia and Indonesia.

He provides services on a part time basis from the Dental Centre, and looks forward to continuing care for his long term patients.


Oral Health Therapist

Hannah Pryor

Hannah was once a patient at The Dental Centre, and she has now returned to work with us after completing a bachelor of oral health at Charles Sturt university, in Wagga Wagga in 2018.

Whilst studying, Hannah worked as a dental assistant and was trained in Zoom whitening. Since

graduating she has completed training in 3D cone beam radiography. As an Oral Health Therapist, Hannah is trained in paediatric dentistry and dental hygiene, providing a wide range of dental services.

Hannah enjoys working with children, helping people improve their dental hygiene and creating confident smiles.


Dental Hygienists:

Corinne Wilkins

Corinne Commenced work at The Dental Centre in 2002. While working at The Dental Centre she has obtained her certificate as a Dental Assistant and completed Radiography. She the continued her education and completed an Advanced Diploma of Dental Hygiene in 2006. Corinne has continued to remain up to date with Continuing Education programs in Dental Hygiene, Periodontics, Infection Control and Practice management. She also completed a course in 3D Cone Beam Radiography. She is a recent mother to a beautiful daughter, Ivy, and works Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday.

Anne Campbell

Anne Graduated from TAFE SA, Adelaide in 1982 as a Dental Hygienist and commenced work at The Dental Centre in 1989, and in 2014 became Practice Manager.

Anne regularly attended practice management courses in Sydney to help manage an efficient and cohesive team. She also works closely with the Tom and Greg and plays an important role with our preventive care and orthodontic programs.

Anne frequently attends education programs in Dental Hygiene, Periodontics and general Dentistry to update her education and knowledge to help provide an optimum service for our patients.

In 2018 after 29 years working at The Dental Centre she decided to decrease her work load and handed over her practice management role to Ann Garrick. She now works in a relieving hygienist position with a view to semi retirement in which she intends to spend time travelling Australia.

Practice Manager

Ann Garrick

Ann commenced work in the dental industry in 1977.

She has successfully completed her Certificate lll and IV in Dental Assisting and Radiography. Since joining The Dental Centre in 2002, Ann has since gained certificates in OPG Radiograph, 3D Cone Beam Radiography and Cerec fabrication of porcelain work including staining and glazing.

Ann has a wealth of dental knowledge in all facets from reception, to surgery work and equipment maintenance. This makes Ann the go to person for our surgery. We would be lost without her.

Outside of the surgery, Ann is a family orientated person, loves keeping fit and involved in playing Masters softball. All of these qualities along with an amazing work ethic make Ann the perfect Practice Manager.


Front Office Co-ordinator

Montana Shorrock

Montana started work at The Dental Centre in January 2014 as a school based Trainee Dental Assistant. During this time she has become a full time member of our team, completed her certificate III in Dental Assisting and Certificate IV in Radiography.

Her role at The Dental Centre involves reception duties focusing on making sure scheduling is running smoothly. She is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable member of our team.

Dental Assistants

Hannah Nicholls

Hannah started her traineeship in November 2016. Since then she has completed Certificate III in Dental Assisting and Certificate IV in Radiography.

Her role as a trainee Dental Assistant includes chair side assisting, sterilisation procedures and when required, reception duties.

Hannah is a driven and enthusiastic member of our team, and has been a great mentor to our other trainee dental assistants.

Grace Block

Grace is the newest member of our team, but has taken to her role very quickly. She is completing her Certificate III in Dental Assisting, and has proven to be a highly skilled assistant, with developing skills in photography. Her previous experience as a dental receptionist is most useful, and we are glad to have her as part of our team.

Adelaide Richardson

Adelaide joined the Dental Centre team in 2018, and since then has become an integral member of our team. She has completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting and is currently studying her certificate IV in Radiography.

In addition to her chairside assisting duties, Adelaide has become skilled in digital DSLR photography and ceramic glazing, and is an essential member of the Dental Centre Team
